King Kim, D.M.D.

Dr. Kim is originally from the pacific northwest.  He grew up in Beaverton, Oregon where he graduated from Aloha High School and then went on to college at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.  After completing his college education, he worked in the Baxter Healthcare Validation Department.  Dr. Kim’s next stepping stone was graduating with honors from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine.  He then chose a residency program at Nova Southeastern University/Broward General Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.  There he earned a certificate in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and was exposed to a full-scope of the specialty, with a unique opportunity to become familiar with minimally-invasive, endoscopically assisted surgery, as well as microvascular free flap head and neck reconstruction.

Early on in his residency, Dr. Kim became particularly interested in facial cosmetic surgery.  Wishing to expand his training further, Dr. Kim is now the 2008-2009 fellow in facial cosmetic and reconstructive surgery with Dr. John E. Griffin.  This fellowship is in Columbus, Mississippi, the birthplace of legendary author Tennessee Williams.

Dr. Kim is a member of the American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Association of Dental Research, and the International Association of Dental Research.  He was also a previous member of the Resident American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial surgeons.  He holds current certifications in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, and Advanced Trauma Life Support.  Dr. Kim has affiliations with 3 hospitals, has passed the Western Regional and Florida Dental Licensure Examinations, and is licensed in Oregon, Florida, and Mississippi.  He has also traveled abroad as a volunteer to perform oral surgical procedures in underserved areas.

Research in the specialty is another interest of Dr. Kim’s.  He has given numerous national presentations relating to the fields of TMJ surgery, trauma surgery, salivary gland surgery, and maxillofacial pathology.  In 2003, he was awarded the Thomas P. Hinman Scholarship for research, as well as the ADA/Dentsply research award.  He has published various articles in peer-reviewed journals, and is co-author in two pending publications in textbook chapters.  He is also a peer reviewer for journal articles within the specialty.  Dr. Kim continues his research endeavors and has authored many journal articles which are pending publication.
